But if I can offer anyone some advice on using reviews to determine your purchase (probably more common now since people generally need to spend more carefully), if you’re not trying to get a sense of the field and see where reviews converge (read them first obviously to see where the common pain points exist), choose one reviewer you really trust from an outlet you trust and go from there.

I tend to agree very often with Gamespot reviews generally, so that’s usually where I go when I’m not sure about a game.

But that said, I wouldn’t say many reviewers disliking a game makes them haters. It’s very likely that people agree that on common issues. Nothing wrong with that.
